Understanding our Commitments
United Methodists give of themselves – we give our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. These are basic to the vows we take when we join a local United Methodist congregation. We always believe that our gifts to God, no matter the form they take, are in response to the grace we have already received!
Here’s how you might live these out through our church:
PRAYERS
We seek to pray for our congregation, our community and our world.
If you would like to request a prayer, please visit our Prayer Request page.
PRESENCE
We give through our attendance in worship, Sunday school and small group ministries. We believe that we are stronger with you than without you! Your presence may impact someone you know or don’t know who needs your specific perspective or listening ear.
GIFTS
In addition to donating in person with cash or check during a Sunday worship service, you may also give in the following ways:
SERVICE
There are a variety of ways in which people are called to serve our church. We encourage you to prayerfully consider how God might be calling you to serve.
If you are interested in becoming more involved and serving at Oak Forest, please email us at [email protected].
WITNESS
Our witness to the love of God in our lives is an important part of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Both our words and our actions are important witnesses to the world around us. Social media is a great way to share your witness without seeming overbearing. Like us on social media and check-in when you are here so that your friends notice where you worship. They’ll know that if they visit, there will be at least one familiar face in the crowd!
